CBIA - The Canadian Bar Insurance Association

While your provincial health care plan provides for a variety of services, there are many other important items which are not covered. Things like prescription drug bills, paramedical practitioners, ambulance services and private hospital rooms are not covered by most government plans. An Individual Health Care Plan can make sure you can get the very best care when it's needed.

The CBIA plan includes coverages for prescription drugs (includes drug card), convalescent hospital care, ambulance services, nursing care, paramedical practitioners, prescription medical supplies and more.

This plan is available exclusively to CBIA members and their spouse under age 65. Members may also cover their dependent children under 21 or under 26 if attending school full-time. Employees of lawyers also qualify for this protection.

Reimbursement for private hospital room, convalescent hospital and ambulance coverage is 100%. All other eligible benefits are reimbursed at 80% (unless otherwise stated). Before benefits are payable, you must pay the first $50.00 of eligible expenses (the deductible) per person per calendar year up to $100.00 per family. There is no deductible on the private hospital room benefit.

The maximum out of pocket expense an individual will incur in a calendar year is $750.00, including any deductible amounts and coinsurance payments.

The lifetime maximum is $1,000,000.00 per insured per benefit.

DENTAL BENEFITS (Optional)

Available as an optional benefit, the CBIA Individual Dental benefit helps complete your EHC protection with affordable, comprehensive dental care protection.
